On June 12,2019,  people from around our diocese involved in Pastoral Care Ministry, gathered at Carondelet Hospitality Center in Latham for the annual pastoral care day of retreat & spiritual renewal.  Guest Presenter Fr. Eugene (Red) O’Reilly C.Ss.R. engaged the retreatants with stories, prayer, song, ritual and humor, speaking on the topic of Jesus’ Transforming Power of Humility.  Fr. O’Reilly is a Redemptorist priest from Canada.

The day included talks, group sharing,  prayer /quiet time, Liturgy, and lunch along with singing and laughter.  One retreatant shared the following afterwards

“- It was truly a wonderful day. As I drove home from the retreat and later in the evening, I reflected on all he said. While on the surface the message was cloaked in lighthearted words, the depth of the spirituality gave me many things to think about. Some retreats renew and validate what we are doing and that’s good. We all need that. But this retreat for me made me look deeper and to realize once again that God is always there to guide me if I let Him . To remove those outer garments each time I visit someone is to place my hand in God’s and let him use and guide me through each visit – not my way but His.”

The retreat also included a delicious complimentary lunch sponsored by St. Peter’s Health Partners, St. Mary’s Healthcare, Amsterdam and Ellis Hospital, Schenectady.

Thank you so much for another lovely retreat day!
