Summer Art Gallery Group Exhibit: Local Highlights: Landscape, Portrait, Still Life, & More

Paintings by Vince Forte, Jr.

On Exhibit: July 1 – August 30, 2018

The Living Room Art Gallery
Located in Historic St. Agnes Cemetery’s Visitors Center
48 Cemetery Avenue, Menands, New York

All are welcome to an artists’ reception on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 5-7 pm.

Artist’s statement:

We often forget local science and engineering contributions toward advancing our modern world, significant historical events that happened here, and how beautiful our area is to live and work in. In this art show I depict all of this through landscape, portrait, still life, and more. In addition to local subjects, my other paintings are more traditional seascapes and religious themes.

Similar to the old world method for artistic training I developed my artistic skills directly through hands on instruction with several professional artists over many years. After a career as an electric power engineer and manager/director of engineering I have turned my long time hobby into a second career as a fine art oil painter and sculptor.

My oil painting style can be called representative. While realistic, it is more painterly than photo realism but tighter than most impressionism. My paintings have been purchased by collectors in seven states as far west as Colorado and along the east coast. One is owned and displayed in a Catholic church. I typically paint on 16”x20” and 18”x24” canvas, but have many smaller pieces (8”x10” or 11”x14”) as well as a few much larger pieces (24”x36” or 36”x48”).

If you share a love for our area, I hope you will come to see this showing and perhaps consider purchasing a unique locally created original for yourself or as a gift. I look forward to meeting you during the artist reception for this show.

Gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 9am – 4pm, weekends by appointment.

Many people are surprised to learn there is a beautiful art gallery located in Historic St. Agnes Cemetery.  It is a bit different to say the least.  The Gallery serves as a means for local artists to exhibit and sell their work. The museum quality tracks and cables are strong and secure, offering a safe and attractive means to display art.

If you are an artist in the Capital District interested in exhibiting work, contact our Gallery Manager Kelly Grimaldi at [email protected], or (518) 350-7679.

Exhibits run for 60 days and the artist is offered the opportunity to hold an artist’s reception for friends and family.  We also encourage group shows.
