Call for Volunteers, Civil War Veterans Gravestone Restoration

May 22, 2020 from 10 AM – 2 PM
This project has been postponed until further notice due to COVID-19. Call for information.

Memorial Day logo, no textWe have dozens of gravestones in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, marking Civil War veterans. Many of them have inscriptions that are difficult to read because they are covered with lichen and black stains from pollutants. They need some TLC.

If you have a deep respect for our veterans; if you want to show your gratitude for their service and honor their memory, contact us about volunteer opportunities this Spring/Summer .

Kelly Grimaldi leads volunteer restoration projects, instructing volunteers how to properly and safely clean gravestones. Water pumps, nylon brushes, wooden picks and a specially formulated, non-toxic cleaning agent called D2 Biological Solution are available to use to properly clean veterans’ gravestones.

Contact Kelly to sign up: (518) 350-7679 or [email protected]

Calvary Cemetery is located at 481 Rt. 9W, Glenmont, NY 12077

I am interested in helping out. Could you provide more info on how the stones are cleaned and any other info that you think describes the process Do you have a rain date? Are there any tools that could help with the cleaning?
