Albany Diocesan Cemeteries Update on Services During COVID-19
Through the COVID-19 pandemic, Albany Diocesan Cemeteries continues to serve families as an essential service. What does this mean for you? It means that we are up and running essential services in new and constantly evolving ways, but always with the needs and safety of our families and staff in the forefront. We are taking safety protocols very seriously for our staff and the families we serve.
Our offices have been closed since March 15 to the general public with the exception of necessary scheduled appointments.
Our Community Mausoleums are open and welcome visitors, but all visitors must adhere to the following safety protocol: All visitors and staff are required to wear a mask and follow social distancing protocol while in our mausoleums until further notice for the safety of all visitors and staff.
Due to implemented safety protocols and reduced onsite staff it may be necessary to postpone marker/monument installs, grave repairs, and genealogy requests until further notice.
Our staff are wearing protective gloves and masks, wiping surfaces and equipment down to disinfect surfaces after each use and practicing social distancing. Many of our staff are now either working from home, or on a rotation schedule to minimize any potential exposure.
We have postponed or canceled public events including:
Art classes: postponed until further notice.
June Memorial Masses: postponed, date TBD.
Pastoral Care Ministry Retreat: re-scheduled to Sept. 22.
Remembrance Garden Prayer Service: postponed until further notice.
Emmaus Ministry Retreat for Grieving Parents: re-scheduled to October 24.
Pastoral Care Visitation Training: re-scheduled for Oct – Nov.
Annual Memorial Day Mass: canceled, we’re looking forward to 2021.
Other events may be postponed or canceled if necessary.
Albany Diocesan Cemeteries is dedicated to continuing essential services and are taking safety protocols very seriously for our staff and the people we serve.
Our staff eagerly look forward to returning to full operations and re-scheduling postponed events as soon as safely feasible. Until then, thank you for your patience and understanding during this trying time.
We pray for the continued health of the families we serve, as well as for our communities and country.
